1924 - Postcards from the Mountains

Captain Noel's original press announcement appeared in some London newspapers on 13 February 1924. Subscribers were asked to send in a plain postcard, plus 2d in stamps, inside a plain envelope. In March, a revised announcement appeared, requesting subscribers send a plain postcard addressed in block capitals, with 2½d in stamps. The last date for receipt was given as 10 April.
A tiny number of pictorial postcards were submitted and serviced, including this Bamforth example sent from Pharijong in June 1924.
More typical of early dated subscribers' cards is the example shown below. In this case a standard Indian postcard has been used. Such cards are recorded in from late June to August 1924, after which only Advertising postcards were used.
